Then there's the signs at tea party rallies:
But no, they aren't racists.
Nothing to see here, folks, move along.

(96,793 posts)Because they not only get away with this crap, they deny it is racist. And then they turn around and claim Obama is a racist, or blacks are racist for voting for him.

(27,985 posts)Fucking racists. And while I know that this is what some people grow up with, there is a point where, as a grownup, one gets to and has to choose. I know. I was raised by my grandparents and my grandfather was a member of the KKK. It never stuck with me. Even as a child, I remember standing up to him and telling him to never, ever say the N word to me again. He didn't. Ever.
HappyMe
(20,277 posts)But it still kind of makes me sad to see those kids in the pictures. Here is a chance to teach the kids about racism, stifling it and ending it. Instead their parents choose to perpetuate the hate.

(20,687 posts)I'm not the problem, I'm a teacher, and I teach openness and open-mindedness and color-blindness every day.
Do you effect children in a positive way every day?

(36,392 posts)Sane people can usually be reasoned with - have some shame. Repukes, and especially teabaggers, don't fall into that category.
FWIW, I am a tenured college professor. So maybe.

(27,985 posts)Unfortunately, racism is generational. This is going to take a long, long time. I wish it weren't so, but as I stare my half century down, I see that it is still going.

What the hell kind of fantasy world must she live in...does she actually believe there are more child-pornographers than racists in America, or is this an elaborate affectation to shill more books and screen time?

(53,661 posts)What drives this philosophy is their denial of the ideals of the men who fought the American Revolution. That piece lays it out. We must show them their hatred is anti-American in the worst way. Is there any doubt this is the root of their disrespect for what we consider wise and prudent in our relationships with our fellows, and our desire to increase equality for all?

(2,117 posts)Racism exists among all age levels but it's most prevalent among the 40+ crowd. Look at the Teabagger rallies, what do you see? There are young people there, but not many. Give things 15-20 years and the demographics of this nation will change enough to make racism an extreme outcast view instead of normality as it is in parts of the country still today.
It's a shame all this has to be said. The civil rights movement was 50 years ago!

(4 posts)Not all white people are racist, just the stupid and uninformed ones who need to get a life . Theres no room in this country for all that craziness, and yes I am white but I am also a person who is in complete support of Obama and I have witnessed many of times living in the deep south the hatred my own people have for those of different color skin than their own...........shameful
