Fucking racists. And while I know that this is what some people grow up with, there is a point where, as a grownup, one gets to and has to choose. I know. I was raised by my grandparents and my grandfather was a member of the KKK. It never stuck with me. Even as a child, I remember standing up to him and telling him to never, ever say the N word to me again. He didn't. Ever.

But it still kind of makes me sad to see those kids in the pictures. Here is a chance to teach the kids about racism, stifling it and ending it. Instead their parents choose to perpetuate the hate.

What drives this philosophy is their denial of the ideals of the men who fought the American Revolution. That piece lays it out. We must show them their hatred is anti-American in the worst way. Is there any doubt this is the root of their disrespect for what we consider wise and prudent in our relationships with our fellows, and our desire to increase equality for all?

Racism exists among all age levels but it's most prevalent among the 40+ crowd. Look at the Teabagger rallies, what do you see? There are young people there, but not many. Give things 15-20 years and the demographics of this nation will change enough to make racism an extreme outcast view instead of normality as it is in parts of the country still today.

It's a shame all this has to be said. The civil rights movement was 50 years ago!
