I guess I'm not familiar enough with the ins-and-outs of dentistry but I thought gold teeth were from a different era and that someone rich like Romney would have had them replaced with implants or natural looking caps. Unless maybe he likes to flaunt a mouth full of gold like some people did generations ago. I would think a politician would be at least as sensitive about his teeth as a movie star and I don't know too many of those who have gold in their mouth and prefer to go with a natural look.

I spent too many years as a poor musician and then trying to break into the movie business and had no money to take care of them until I later sold out on my dreams. But I would have thought people like Romney who are obsessed with perfect hair and clothes would go with a natural look at any cost.

I don't see whatever it is you're seeing. He has a couple of crowns it looks like, and probably fillings, but he's 65, he has very good teeth from what I can see (although I can't tell for sure, but those front incisors look like they may be a partial denture or bridgework).

no point in having them replaced if it's not necessary. (Americans are very shallow when it comes to teeth, though, as observed elsewhere in this thread.)

Enamel may look better, but they tend to crack and they can be uncomfortable when eating cold things. I think his teeth look fine.

There's a reason they used gold for fillings in the old days.

Ceramic is more brittle, gold is softer and wears together better.

There are plenty of substantive things we can be pointing out about Romney. His teeth? When a substantial portion of the voting age population has gold fillings etc.? Dumb. Just dumb.
