they really do not deal with the issues honestly. The seems to end up with jousting talking points. Most of the language is generic meaningless political word salad. Upon examination they reveal nothing about where a candidate really stands. At the end all these talking heads just blather who won and it is like the judging of a prize fight.
When a candidate like Romney can lie about every issue and be declared the winner because he was not challenged it is obvious the game was rigged. Then Jim Lehrer deliberately threw the debate into chaos. To add insult to injury Biden successfully challenges Ryan's lies and he is the bullying loser. Now they are claiming he is demented or was drunk.
The debate commission itself is a questionable organization because it looks like a corporate structure to serve the media and not the public. Even now the next debate is being treated like a fixed boxing prize fight.

Most people out in teeveeland give the win to Biden. Ryan came across as a punk. Biden was a wise old man who laughed at him because he knew better.

(20,441 posts)I generally think they did a good job. They only quit moderating the debates because of the onerous requirements both parties placed upon the League as far as the debates went. They called the demands placed upon them at the time "a fraud on the American voter."
