"We have 23 million people unemployed. We have 47 million of our people on food stamps. The average family has lost $4000 in disposable income in the last 4 years. We have run a deficit of over $1 trillion dollars per year for the last four years. We can't afford 4 more years..."

(17,199 posts)When I took office we were losing 850,000 jobs a month, the stock market had dropped to 6000. We were on the brink of another Depression.
We've now had 31 straight months of private-sector job growth. We've created 5 million jobs. The stock market is up to 13,000. We're not going back to the failed policies my opponent advocates, the failed policies that caused the Great Recession. My fellow Americans, who do you trust on CONTINUING to take us forward?

(111,098 posts)Otherwise, he may lose this debate and lose this election? It is critical that he defend his record and remind folks where we came from to get where we are today.
He has to be succinct. He can't be halting in his speech, which might convey wavering. No more stammering. Be crisp, concise. Hammer home the KEY points as if he were delivering punches.
1. Where we were when he took office.
2. Whose failed policies created those conditions.
3. Where we are today, the progress we've made.
4. And finish it off with "WHO DO YOU TRUST TO CONTINUE THE PROGRESS WE'VE MADE?"

(27,787 posts)you increase your own personal wealth by outsourcing jobs to China, and investing in Shell corporations in the Cayman Islands. I'm not exactly sure how such actions help create jobs here in the US, but perhaps at some point tonight you will explain how that works to the American people."
Continuing ...
"In responding to the worst recession since the great depression, I took the steps need to stop the collapse and reverse the trajectory of the economy, from negative to positive, creating 5 Million jobs, bringing UE down from a high of 10.2%, to below 8%, and it continues to decrease. I, as President, made sure, despite a record number of congressional obstacles and filibusters, that those who became unemployed, due to the same policies YOU advocate ... that those members of the middle class had an extended safety net. Gov., your policies would be devastating to the middle class and the poor. We already know how you feel about 47% or Americans. You can't be bothered to worry about them or their future. Which again, is why you intend to give huge tax breaks to the super rich, while you write off those most in need of help."
How's that?

(27,787 posts)He writes off 47%.
And in the polls, he struggles to get a support level above, 47%.
