At least in the media's eyes?
After all, they handed Romney the first debate, heralding his aggression and passion. They then handed Ryan the VP debate, criticizing Biden's aggression and passion.
Honestly, they might as well write their articles and poll their debate watchers TODAY and take tomorrow off, for all the difference it would make.

(46,416 posts)Or some such bullshit. I don't know, I feel that Mittens was definitely going to be pronounced the winner before the first debate ever happened, but this could go either way--maybe the media wants an Obama comeback story. What matters is ratings and advertising $$--a close race guarantees that.

Don't try telling us the media is unbiased. It isn't so.

marking his territory and he showed he was in charge throughout the debate.

(20,851 posts)I probably matters somewhat if the media gives you credit for "winning" a debate. However if Obama looks like Biden to Romney's Ryan they are going to have a hard time spinning that two weeks in a row. Either way Obama isn't going to beat Romney that badly. Obama's job is to carry his voter enthusiasm from last weeks debate another week. He is generally up and his job now is to fire up his voters to go out and vote. Romney has to both fire up his base and somehow gain new support. To do that Obama would have to stumble bad. Despite all the "winning" Romney did first debate Obama didn't actually give anything for Romney to attach to and attack with. It was a rather shallow victory outside of getting his base at least a little interested in Romney. So the media can spin the debates all they want. More and more it's the social media and your "friends" that tell you who won. Last week was a good week on social media for dems. The debate format I believe this week isn't one that gives you a lot of in your face one on one candidate interaction.

(2,842 posts)class, and hammer on that theme. Romney is poison to wage earners, has been poison to wage earners and will continue to be poison to wage earners.

"Romney showing great work ethic by leaving the debate early to get back on the trail!"

In fact, if Mitt Romney doesn't HANDILY win this debate, it is clear the GOP is done.
