I'm about to blow a gasket over Keith Ablow's "Psycho analysis" of Joe Biden

Note that Fox News, who employs this pathetic excuse for a mental health practitioner, made "psycho analysis" two words. Ablow is not a psychoanalyst. He is a psychiatrist who is abusing the profession. And his horrifying misuse of his professional weight should get his license jerked.

He knows what he's doing. He says Biden showed signs of dementia or drunkenness during the debate. That kind of armchair diagnosis of anyone is unethical, unprofessional and dangerous. And it's, of course, not true. NOTHING in Biden's performance would indicate anything of the kind. I won't much go into differential diagnoses but essentially it means "Well, I guess that's possible though it could be a million other things too, or nothing". But people don't know that.

I could scream. Someone needs to take this idiot off the air before he does us all harm.

They will stop at nothing to marginalize us, to create the image that we are manic or maniac. They will stop at nothing to win this election. We need to stop pretending that the Rethugs are honorable or merely viewing a similar problem with a slightly different point of view. They are the embodiment of evil and it is well and truly past time we admitted it to ourselves.

Using mental health diagnosis as a method to discredit. I agree, professionals have been held to a higher level of ethics and that is why we trust them. And while it is unfortunate that most people watching Fox will never question Ablow's credibility, that also means your profession's proposed standards are still safe.

I doubt that Dr Ablow really believes any of this nonsense.
The only debater that showed signs of dementia was Reagan in 1984, when he couldn't seem to remember anything in the first debate.

unreasonable to think that Reagan may have been showing early signs of the onset of Alzheimer's during that debate. I'm not trained in the field, merely an interested layperson, so I offer this up very tnetatively. But I've often wondered whether Reagan by 1984 was already experiencing intermittent dementia.

I actually remember (or think I remember) reading somewhere that Special Prosecutor Lawrence Walsh had considered indicting Reagan for Iran Contra but, after interviewing him, realized Reagan had dementia and was not criminally culapble. That may be a false memory but it has softened my opinion of Reagan a little bit.

I think this is the typical Rovian tactic of accusing your opponent of what is really your own weakness.

Biden is fine; Romney is not.

But they inoculate their viewers to the accusation by making it first (or loudest) so that when a legitimate claim is made it loses its impact.

That is the biggest meme with the GOP. I have no idea why they are hung up on Biden always being a drunk. Are they afraid of his effectiveness and ability to reach out to blue collar white voters? And our VP had total command of facts and showed a lot more intelligence then Paul Ryan did.
