From Michael Tomasky:
I hope that someone can say to him, Mr. President, 70 million or more Americans are counting on you. They voted for you, theyre planning on voting for you again, and they want you to fight for them. If you lose, you let them down horriblyand you damage their lives. Theyre 47 percenters, a lot of these folks. They need you. If the other side gets in, youll be fine, but theyre screwed.
Obama put himself in the position of being the one person in the country all these people depend on. So he has to be their defender. And this is how Id hope he spends his preparation timenot thinking about how he can look smarter than Romney or score this or that point, but how he can communicate to middle-class people that hes eager to fight to protect their interests, and why his ideas will do that and his opponents wont.
If thats his mindset this week, we wont give any recondite exegeses about the workings of the Independent Payment Review Board. He wont just shrug and say, nah, no difference between me and the other guy on Social Security. Hell treat every question and exchange as an opportunity to advance his vision and knock down Romneys.

(18,672 posts)is for our President to be well-armed in the facts, and not afraid to forcefully put them out there, even if it means interrupting Romney in mid-lie every few seconds. Don't let this lying weasel get away with ANYTHING.

(1,096 posts)If Obama takes this approach to calling out Romney in the debate, he will come off as passionate for American's rather than angry.

(15,189 posts)They are deciding EVERYTHING Obama has accomplished over a fucking debate. We ALL know Rmoney lies, he won't show us his taxes, and he ships jobs out of the country. With all that going for him, why should this race be even close. Obama could fall asleep at the debate and I would still vote for him for what he has done for us so far, not by a lousy debate. The people are letting him down.
