That's just a drop in the bucket of their profits. No wonder we are in trouble in this country...oh right; I'm third right on second row of the choir.

They not only pay so little that workers have to get food stamps to eat, they also require medicaid, since they don't offer any insurance except for a very small portion of employees.
They are also notorious for firing or pushing out employees that have been with them long enough to be making better hourly wages.
All of the store clerk jobs are like this, its not just walmart, its all of them!
Its pretty easy to make big money on stock when the corp. model is soak the govt. and stiff the workers!

Their modus operandi is to hire the bulk of their workers as part timers to keep wages low and not have to pay benefits. If all that's available is a part time job, you take 2 or 3 and go on food stamps and medicaid. This is how we subsidize Staples and Walmart and all the rest.

I know, it's stupid, and I can't really fully explain it.

I receive food stamps because I am disabled. Like the employees of Wal-Mart, I need the assistance and probably couldn't get by without it. I've not previously liked being linked to the notion of parasites, even by extension.

I realize that wasn't the intention, and the message is valid. I just wish there were another way to put it that got the same point across.
