ROMNEY GAFFE #1

Dodges the middle class loopholes question, and tells the lady that his plan will mean she won't have to pay taxes on capital gains, dividends, and savings.

WHO THE FUCK HAS THAT SHIT besides rich people??? In this economy??? After the last four years???

Epic tin ear.

Pass it on.

Mitt and everyone else will save millions.

The 1% CEO's have very small salary, and millions of shares of the companies. Voila-all capital gains. Zero income.

I do actually have some reportable capital gains each year. The taxes on them would not buy more than one dinner at a sit down restaurant. Apparently according to statistics I have a bigger portfolio than the average person has in their 401K. However, you could double my taxes on it and I would not miss the money. I am pretty sure I spend more on toilet paper during the course of a year.

And still is, even though it won't be long before there's not much
to tax because interest rates are so fucking low!

I don't really have a problem with capital gains being taxed, but
I've always had a problem with savings interest being taxed. That
one bothers me.

Also, I always hated losing a tax benefit. Over the years, I've lost
the sales tax deduction, the charity deduction, and the medical
expenses deduction. It hurts to lose a benefit.

Still, no matter what, I will never vote Reep and never have!!! I
know that my taxes have helped level the playing field and have
contributed to making life liveable for those in society targed for
destruction. I never want that to change!

I personally think income is income, and it should all be taxed as a total, regardless from whence it came, at the same rate.

If your interest plus capital gains plus "income" totals X dollars, why should it be taxed at a lower rate from someone who makes a total of X dollars but has no money generated from savings or capital gains?

Making such a change to the tax code would not only make things more clear, but it would also be an absolute boon to the treasury.

After hammering on how bad the economy is and how badly Obama has failed the middle class, he acts like he'd be doing all us peasants a favor by not taxing our (nonexistent) savings and capital gains.

What a maroon!

our president basically did nothing with that silver platter stacked high with canned whoop-ass.

I was watching it with my brother, and we just started laughing. Obama SHOULD have pointed out that capital gains are already taxed at a lower rate than other income, and that it's the wealthy who benefit from this greatly, so that what Romney was really proposing was a larger tax break for the super-rich. He could have then gone on to mention that any investments most normal people would have are ALREADY non-taxed 401ks or home mortgages.

Why on earth was this?! Is it the cynical answer that he was really just prepared to give a canned response from the relevant part of his stump speech, or the super cynical answer that he can't possibly risk offending his wealthy campaign donors or giving them even a hint that he could possibly support real progressive taxation?

He also didn't call out Romney when he said the top tax bracket was 60% - WHAT THE FUCK!?! WHY NOT?! The top tax bracket is 35% ... but what's a difference of 25% between friends? Umm...

I know that folks like us will be hitting these points for the next several weeks, but will the president's campaign or the Democratic Party? I can only hope so, but even if they do - and maybe especially if they do - why wasn't he president ready to jump on this quickly?

I have about $4000 in a savings account and I made $0.49 last month in interest. I would hate to have to pay 28% of that in taxes!
