Forget the Debate! President Obama Just Won the 2012 Election.

The American People liked what they saw tonight and are proud of the President they elected four years ago.

And they are going to give him the four years more he has earned.

This was the pivotal moment. God bless President Obama, Michelle and their family.

people who point out he performed horribly are doomsayers or whatever term you used; when Obama performs well in a debate, it wins the election for him. OK.

it's still ours to lose -- but we've snatched defeat from the jaws of certain victory before, so let's stay busy, focused, and somewhat humble until the polls close on November 6th

Or the debate. Obama talked a really good game tonight, but did he mean it? WE can stay "busy, focused, etc etc", but will Obama once he (if he) wins, or will he go back to being the passive, accommodative pushover he was during the first four years? If people like the OP continue being unquestioning cheerleaders for him, why should he do anything but "cruise," as another poster in this thread put it? It's pretty obvious that he, himself, feels no particular motivation to fight; it wasn't until his re-election was on the line that he was able to summon enough energy to put his foot in the ass of a real piece of work like Romney, a guy who is the absolute personification of everything the left has been fighting against for almost two centuries. Cheer about this debate, sure; but understand that the first debate underscores serious problems with Obama, and those problems aren't going to go away with this debate. If he actually cared, if he was motivated, the performance he put on tonight would have been his second win in a row, and Romney would be the punch line to every political joke, while the Democrats would be looking for ways to add seats in the Senate and maybe even take the House, and the Democratic Party itself would have a powerful theme articulated by its leader. But that's not likely to happen now. The debates ought to have been about more than the election, and Obama squandered that opportunity on his passivity and indifference.
