Never have I seen such a poorly organized campaign.
Sheldon Adelson gave him two installments of $500,000. No TV spots. Poorly written and produced youtube vids, a few of which center on Boteach taking a suit on a hanger around Bergen and Passaic Counties, talking to it a la Clint Eastwood.
How is he spending his mil? He had a robocall telephone townhall last night which was more of a radio talkshow with callers rather than a campaign event.
Don't get me wrong. He's pleasant enough. But he doesn't talk in specifics, only generalities. Whatever Bill Pascrell has done, he's against it: Pascrell's support for a park to be named after a community leader (who happened to have been an antisemite) or Pascrell defending the right of a Palestinian community leader to stay in this country. And Boteach is against term limits; that's why you shouldn't vote to re-elect Pascrell. Pascrell's a local politician like that's a bad thing: he goes to Washington and Paterson is still dirty and crime-ridden.
I just don't see an organized campaign that offers much other than Boteach is not Pascrell, he isn't a democrat, and he'll be bipartison (we'll see how long THAT would last . . . . ).

(27,461 posts)the guy gives me the creeps. Do you know much about him? I'm surprised he's running for office, from what I've seen he strikes me as a guy that has skeletons.

(46,202 posts)Boteach WON the republican primary. Hector Castillo (http://drhectorcastilloforcongress.com/AboutHector.html) ran against Boteach in a district heavy with Hispanics in Paterson and Passaic. Not all Hispanics are registered democrats. And like right now, Boteach ran a disorganized campaign that said nothing. Castillo advertised heavily in Bergen County (now included in the 9th District) and still lost. It wasn't close.
