for Romney because he keeps changing his mind and says something different everyday. I just don't trust him." (paraphrased). And even better yet, the other woman said she was an Independent and was having the same problem with Romney. This was a conversation between 2 woman getting to know each other during jury duty - this was in the dining section of the lounge.
I found the conversation interesting, & thought I'd share.

(9,644 posts)People who trust the guy and can believe what he says are willfully denying the past 18 months or simply have zero cognitive abilities. Although it is possible they have been living in a cave and not have been paying attention - that is the only legitimate excuse for voting for this guy.

"He was seen on videotape, covered in blood, still holding the receipt from K-Mart where he got the knife, dancing over the bodies, singing 'I killed you, I killed you!'. He even was mouthing the words on the tape as it was being shown for the first time. And you're not sure he's guilty???"

(5,158 posts)is that you can't tell what Rmoney supports, because he'll say he supports something then come out a week later against it. The man has more waffles than an IHOP. At least with Obama, you know where he stands.

(60,212 posts)Yeah, Obama was a centrist as a senator, tacked slightly to the left during the campaign, and went back to the center as president, but after 4 years, love him or hate him, you know what he's about.
Romney... who knows what that guy believes, and what he stands for? As president, is he going to be the democrat-with-an-R that he was as governor of Massachusetts, is he going to be the king of trickle down, is he going to be the strong social conservative that the fundies have wanted for decades, is he going to bring back the gilded age, is he going to be the second coming of W, or is he going to actually be a good president and get the economy back on track?
Some combination of the above? None of the above?
Who knows?
Not Romney, that's for sure.

(515 posts)Do you know anyone that actually thinks that he's the best man for the job? It seems that most of the people who I see discussing the election are voting for Romney because they have an "anyone but Obama" attitude. When you point out the things that Romney has done that is inconsistent with their values, their main comeback seems to always be that simply, "well, he's better than Obama."

(7,968 posts)Many of the repukes realize Romney is an chameleon and won't vote for him.
I think this is behind some of the Romney poll surge after the 1st debate. Several of his "would be" supporters suddenly decided he was a viable conservative. This will be very thin support but when push comes to shove enthusiasm for the Mittster will not be very much.

(4,359 posts)but thanks for sharing that. Makes me happy to see that the fog is being lifted from in front of at least a few republican eyes.

(4,246 posts)the Republican lady who said she "didn't trust Romney" was a little (maybe a lot) on the loud side.

(26 posts)The man scares the crap out of me. I cannot wait for this election to be over and have Obama continue to lead us for the next four years. I will not even consider the alternative.

(2,117 posts)I think a lot of moderate people who live in conservative areas say they are voting for Romney because it is the popular thing to do, but they do secretly realize Obama makes a much better president. I also think there are a lot of Evangelicals who have a problem with Romney's religion who say they support him who really don't as well. I wouldn't count on that to have a large effect, but outside of the 30% or so who are extremely conservative, Romney does not have much enthusiasm.

(36,281 posts)Wait, is that big room with rows of benches that looks just like the DMV in the basement of our courthouse the "jury lounge?"

(4,246 posts)place to have a cup of tea and read a book while waiting for the jury clerk.
And the main jury lounge just replaced all their chairs - so they're stylin' in there too.

(37,364 posts)He can't trust Romney and was having a real problem with him, although he wanted Romney to come out firmly to the right on women's reproductive issues. Irks me when men demand this type of say.
