(67 posts)I wonder is this to do with the Romney campaign or a house or senate race? I am hoping it's something to do with the Romney campaign. 'well funded' leads me to think it is something to do with Romney but there are some senate seats that are well funded as well so who knows.
My brain is stirring with what it could be. Maybe accepting foreign money? Something to do with Romney's tax returns? Paying off election officials to turn votes, who knows. I am very excited and will be watching the news!

(16,916 posts)Steve works in the Justice system in Nebraska
The story will get play in Iowa and Nebraska
This story probably won't go national (though I wonder...)
The person being investigated is highly funded Congressman or Senator
Conclusions:
1. Highly funded Congressman or Senator rules out everyone except Fischer and King
2. Since Omaha Steve is based in NE, and his access to information is limited to that state, we can probably rule out Steven King's Iowa house seat.
3. This leaves Deb Fischer, who I hear is involved in some sort of land grab scandal (a dirty little business), that as a result, Kerrey is gaining on her like white on rice.
Nebraska Senate candidate Deb Fischer's unscrupulous land grab
October 15, 2012 By: Julie Driscoll
http://www.examiner.com/article/nebraska-senate-candidate-deb-fischer-s-unscrupulous-land-grab
"Fourteen years after their hard-fought battle to regain rights to their own land, Les and Betty Kime passed away, and the heirs of Les and Betty Kime decide to sell the ranch to the Nebraska Game and Parks Department, in the hope that the beauty of the area could be enjoyed by all Nebraskans. The Nebraska Game and Parks Department turned to the Nebraska Environmental Trust for funding - and it was then that Deb Fischer made her move, in a last-ditch effort to acquire land that she had attempted to literally steal from an elderly couple a decade and a half earlier. Deb Fischer decides to introduce legislation in Nebraska to strip the Nebraska Environmental Trust of more than half of its revenue, Bill LB229. She pushed it through, and it passed last year. End result: No bucks, no Kime land deal. And something else: No disclosure."
jackbenimble
(251 posts)Hmmm... is someone crossing over from one state to the other for illegal activity? Like maybe using campaign $ to hire prostitutes or something of that nature?
Just guessing. I'm from Iowa originally and always thought it was a blue state... so maybe a NE candidate crossing over to Iowa doing something illegal?

(6,129 posts)Despite being outspent 5-1 Democratic Congressional hopeful John Ewing tells Nebraska Watchdog he got hot at the right time.
Part of that heat a decision by the Omaha World-Herald endorsing Ewing over 7 term incumbent Republican Lee Terry.
John Ewing
In its endorsement the newspaper accused Terry of trumping up his TV ads, making Terry guilty of unseemly behavior.
Ewings campaign insists the race is close although Terry has spent $1.6 million compared to Ewings $309,000.
But as of September 30 Ewing had narrowed the cash-on-hand margin. Terry reported $276,000 in the bank while Ewing showed $136,000.
Last month Ewing trailed Terry by 13 points in a World-Herald poll. Ewing says hes now down by four.
