Presidential, Senate races dead heats in Wisconsin

The races for president and U.S. senator in Wisconsin are as tight as they can get, according to a new poll of likely voters.

The Marquette Law School Poll, released Wednesday, shows Democratic candidate President Barack Obama and Republican candidate Mitt Romney in a virtual deadlock among Wisconsin voters, with Obama garnering 49 percent of the votes from likely voters and Romney 48 percent.

For the U.S. Senate, former governor and Republican candidate Tommy Thompson was the favorite of 46 percent of those polled while Democratic Rep. Tammy Baldwin was the favorite of 45 percent of those polled.

The poll was conducted Oct. 11-14, before the second presidential debate was held Tuesday night.

...when a Democrat is a point or two ahead of a Republican (even if there are other polls showing the margin to be larger), it will invariably be reported as a "dead heat" while, if the Republican is ahead of the Democrat by a similar margin, the Republican will always be said to be "leading...?

For me the so called political division is a vast chasm. I hate to see this happen to Wisconsin.

All pointers are affirmative. I hope the Dems are doing something now instead of later. Really, we have experienced this so many times before. Surely, our side is working on this as I type. God, I hope so.
