Teacher charged with assault; mom says lesson involved Islam
Uh oh. Here's the latest right wing "EVUL PUBLECH SKOOLZ!!!1!!!!" story:
Chesapeake police have charged a Butts Road Intermediate School teacher with simple assault for allegedly injuring a student during what the child's mother said was a lesson involving "Islamic hand signs."
Police Spokeswoman Kelly O’Sullivan confirmed that Tara Harris has been charged for an Oct. 2 incident at the school. She would not say, however, what happened to warrant the charges. O’Sullivan did say an investigator looked into the matter.
Harris could not be immediately reached. School spokesman Tom Cupitt said he could not comment at this time because it is a personnel matter.

Now this is where the story gets fishy...
Stephanie Bennett, the mother of the 10-year-old girl injured, filed the complaint. She first told her story to The Blaze, a conservative website owned by former Fox News host Glenn Beck.
Reached by The Virginian-Pilot, she said she wanted to speak with a lawyer before doing other interviews.

the neighbor and/or the newspaper pulls a McCain. 
Harris' next-door neighbor, William Moore, said she is not a Muslim. "They're the nicest people you ever wanted to meet - they've been great neighbors," he said.
