My days at work are reduced to wearing a poker face.

I am the most productive worker here by far. You can call it patting myself on the back, I call it truth, quantified by numbers. No one got within 20% of my margin at the end of last year, and I'm 22% ahead of the pack so far this year. So I don't fear for my job, not one bit.

But I am only one of two liberals here, and the other one is closeted for the most part. I am in the heart of red state here in TN.

These mouthbreathers here screw with me mercilessly. And boy, have they been crowing lately. Every time I'm engaged by one and told how Romney has this in the bag, I just take another long draw from my coffee mug and say "Sounds like you've got it in the bag, congratulations."

I've been chewing on this shit sandwich slowly ever since the first debate. There will be no middle ground. Either I'm going to spit that sandwich at the feet of these cretins, or I'm going to have to swallow it. But until then, I'm going to stay in my bubble and not let them see me sweat.

Just donated $100 to MoveOn's efforts to put up GOTV billboards in OH. It gave me a fleeting moment of peace. But I'd be lying if I said I wasn't freaking out inside. This race shouldn't even be a race. Maybe it isn't. I don't know how these politicians do it. I would have ulcers on my ulcers if I had to do this for a living.

Though I'm retired, most of my friends and extended family are Republicans. I don't get into politics with them because frankly it's not productive and there's nothing to be gained in letting them know that I'm better informed on these issues than they are. Those discussions don't really change anyone's mind any more than do discussions on religion.

Even though my area of Ohio has always leaned red, it's home to me and I don't see myself leaving. However, if I were to consider relocating, it would be in a college town, which usually has more broad-minded folk - i.e., Dems. Other good things about a college town - it usually has good health care facilities and cultural events.

I made this choice about a week ago after confronting a few folks on Facebook, one of whom unfriended me. I have had a discussion with a local minister who believes that Obama is a Muslim and posts about it on Facebook. I tried having a rational discussion with him, but he continued on with his posts. I had enough and unfriended him. Two others I have unfriended because of the crap they spew about Obama taking away their guns.

People who place their faith in a liar and bully like Romney while believing every racist hate-filled lie and conspiracy theory about Obama they come across are not worth my time. They will no longer be granted any space on my Facebook news feed. That is my choice.

The East Tennessee political bbq can be more than just racism sprinkles and slathered religion; in my experience, it's usually pulled from being smoked in both, and then slathered in both. I've oftened whined about my own work situation. I'm the support person to four, very rich Republican asswipes. I try to laugh my way all the way to the bank, but it gets hard sometimes.

They seem to be intent, in particular, this time around, on dropping comments, etc. Thus far, I've kiddingly reminded them that it's not polite to discuss politics and religion in a professional environment, but they have the upper hand.

It's hard to sit here day after day after day and listen to their bullshit being spewed. If Romney wins, I fear it will be unbearable. Please, Democrats, get out there and vote for the sake of those like me and the poster above! I'm in a red state and there's no way my vote will really make a difference, but I will vote!

I almost wish there was a way to just divide the freaking country. I would love the opportunity to move to an area where there are like-minded people. The Republican crap that I see around here is not only frightening, it's unbelievable, and it's absurd. And no one around here seems to care one iota. They just want their own taxes to go down. To hell with everyone else.

Sorry to whine, once again, but if it weren't for DU during the work day, I'd pretty much be a zombie, so thanks to DU for being an outlet for me!

Politely ask them what policies about Romney's they like. And then explain how its either misleading, has changed several times, or how its true impact would be and who the real beneficiaries are.

Then explain why Obama is better.

The democrats have the better philosophy and better plan. If you need help I recommend reading a Thom Hartman book or two. I think he makes some of the best cases against Republican philosophy and does it on a level that even a "mouth breather" can understand. Research. Get some facts to back you up. And if they fire you for voicing your opinion back then they are hypocrites that you wouldn't want to work for anyways. There is always another job.

Be Proud to stand up for the Rights of Women, The Rights of Minorities, The Rights of the individual.

On a side note I'm trying to come up with bumper stickers

Because people like you and me & the folks at DU- we are all part of a COLLECTIVE MIND- we rise above the Republican far reich and we are together in soul.

That gives us more power than they could ever imagine.

We live in an extra-conservative county in already-conservative Georgia, and if we dared put an Obama sticker on our car, our tires would be flattened, and if we dared put an Obama sign on our property, our house would be burned down. We are big donors to the Democrats.

We are not discouraged because we share our soul with people like you, good people, and when they try to intimidate you, just think of the collective mind you belong to, and you will be able to genuinely smile back at them because good will overcome evil.

I just can't frikken wait to see their heads pop off like so many champagne corks, going "ping" "bonk" as they pop off and hit the ceiling. I have lived through one Obama campaign, and he never let us down. He was planning way ahead. We would get all in the dumps and someone would have to post the "Chill the F out, I got this!" graphic. Here is what is happening in red, ignorant as dirt, North Florida: I have gotten a total of 4 robocalls from the campaign of the teabagger congressman. It costs a bit of money to robocall a congressional district, I would think. Those cheerful young whippersnappers down at the OFA Hq call us once a week. I say "Thank you for working for President Obama, don't worry we'll be voting." They don't take us off the list, just keep calling. The ground game is off the chain down here.
The FB posts and emails from those evil bastards just make me look forward to the delicious announcement of our win. These evil old bastards in the South are dying off. They are wearing diapers for their botched prostate operations. They have glandular conditions, diabetes, obesity, etc. They are eating their cornbread and biscuits and killing their fool selves. I feel better.

occasionally, and usually, only one piece at a time. Please don't forget that anywhere there is a University, there resides plenty of blue. As is the case throughout the South, we are a mixed bag.

And the eggy one from the oven. I watched her make it one time. It was like looking into a slaughterhouse. Half oil. Rich as 3 feet up a bull's ass, as my husband says (delicately).

My family of origin is from the South and I am the only one who believes differently than they do. At first i tried to be tolerant of them and "just get along" but quickly learned they have no intention whatsoever of returning the favor. I can't live with such ignorance and hate, so have little contact. Living happily in ultra-liberal Seattle.

every day. You and your fortunate co-worker can be sure in the knowledge that your views are supported by thousands of folks out here in DU land, and millions around the country. The morning after election day you will be sipping that cup of Joe and grinning ear-to-ear as they all shake their heads. Believe it!

It sounds like these people are creating a hostile workplace. I avoid talking politics in many situations and change the topic if people bring it up.

And it's a very small business. We're talking 16 people. There are no supervisors. Just three bosses and thirteen employees. It can be like Thunderdome sometimes.
