A theory about why Google had depressed Earnings

I suspect it might be because Google Ads is like throwing money off a cliff.

The idea that any click on the internet is worth $0.25 in real money is absurd unless you are running a scam of some sort... something with a 10,000% profit margin.

And $1.00 per click? $1.25 per click? Fricking insane. The businesses competitively bidding search terms up to absurd levels has to stop eventually.

Internet advertising is just not as valuable as it "should" be and people have to figure that out eventually.

Just my guess.

Also... I don't know how long people will continue to watch a 30 second ad on youtube for the privilege of seeing a two minute clip.

It's a loss leader in an attempt to pretend they can compete with Apple.

I'm surprisied they would sell off on a reasonable investment like that.

(The OP is halfway a joke/rant, of course.)

Android is wildly outpacing iOS globally. Google doesn't even make phones, they just supply the opensource OS (which most phone companies tweak in-house), and license their brand name to the 'flagship' Android phone.

Their ad spamming is where they make their money, and they just lost a Huge portion of it.

How's that Apple Maps thing working out, anyways?

http://www.guardian.co.uk/technology/blog/2012/aug/10/android-smartphone-market-2012-apple

Android now controls 68.1% of the smartphone market, up from 59% in the first quarter of 2012. iOS? Dropped to 16.9% from 23.1% in the first quarter of 2012. (last year's 2nd quarter numbers were 46.9% for android, 18.8% for ios) Google is losing part a dwindling market segment (i say part of because lots and lots of pre-iphone-5 users still use google maps).

compared to the polish and productiveness of Windows. I'm surprised Wall Street hasn't gotten someone at Google fired for forcing a crappy Linux on the masses. Microsoft is a successful and honest company. That's why Google hates them.

Google is creepy... you type something and it brings up your past searches...
I do go to Youtube, but if there is an ad, I click on "Skip this ad..."
So I have no idea who is actually watching or reading these ads Google is selling.
And I can't recall even one thing I have ever purchased due to seeing an online ad...
