We would need a bunch of facts ready to go so we could just point and click to have them pop up but it would be possible.


We could then have it up on the site for people to watch at their leisure.

How about following Lawrence O'Donnell's suggestion: Do away with the "no notes" rule. Let the candidates each bring a binder (ahem), or a briefcase full of documents they (and we) could refer to. Or have an aide nearby handing them documents as needed. This memorization test we put them through has more to do with "American Idol" than the American presidency.

True, instant fact checking would have been sweet this year, with Romney getting the buzzer every two minutes. But a debate that showcased skillful use of facts rather than memorization and performance would give us a better look at the candidates.

Before all the pundits get there.

Thing is, something like that would be great, but I doubt many politicians would like that.
Bill Clinton though, I think would relish something like that.
