(111,267 posts)although you can vote in person at the county clerk's office right now.
The polling place is a lot closer. I expect a crush during the whole early voting period and a stampede on election day.
NM is still remarkably fired up and the northern part where I am is still furious at Republicans.
I can't believe they ever called this a swing state. Once we got paper ballots, it stopped being one overnight.

(11,816 posts)Seriously - 13 hours, and that's it. Hard to believe, huh? One woman (a Republican, I think) was telling me her husband had to vote absentee, because he left for work in NYC before 7am and rarely got home before 8pm.
Lines are going to be insane this year with the new ID requirement - even though you don't have to have one this time, they will be asking, which will hold up the line. I'll bet there will be "True the Vote"/(Suppress the Vote) people there to try and slow things up as well.

(28,795 posts)to pick up my poll monitor sign from Common Cause, and am hoping to vote while i'm there. downtown tends to really empty after 5 pm so i'm hoping it'll work out. otherwise there's another early voting site right by my house and i will definitely have voted before the weekend is over.
these pictures are very encouraging: the more people vote, the better the democrats do. yeah.

(28,795 posts)i think we can too. the media doesn't want us to believe that though it seems. the key thing is getting out the vote: the more people vote, the better the outcome. the first day of early voting here was huge in the triangle.

(18 posts)I agree, as I went through the pictures, the one of the 4 people at the booth in Durham struck me as a great representation of the demographics that will make a difference in this election and in the future of our nation - Lindsay Graham nailed, "there just aren't enough angry white men' anymore - and I say, AMEN to that!!

Interesting that the GOP is pulling out of NC the day early vote begins and Obama supporters are lined up around the block at the polls.

(34,393 posts)No wonder KKKarl and the Kochsuckers have worked so hard to try to subvert the Constitution and deny our right to vote. If this doesn't make KKKarl wake up in a cold sweat, nothing will.
F YOU, TEABAGGERS!!!! We will prevail.
Fired up! Ready to go!
Volunteer however you can. I have nerve damage in my leg and can't knock on doors, but I can use a telephone and have scheduled a vacation day on November 6 so I will be available to take folks to the polls if they need a ride. We can do it...AGAIN!

(2,391 posts)What a cutie! He's learning an important lesson about voting, too. I remember going into the voting booth with my mother when I was little, back when they pulled the curtain closed and flipped lots of switches to vote. I felt like I was behind the curtain a la the Wizard of Oz! But I remember it to this day and knew it was important.
Love seeing all these folks voting early!

(202 posts)Can't wait till Monday to cast my vote. It doesn't start till the 22nd here in Texas. Love it , I see just as many Obama bumper stickers as I do Romney stickers. They are just not excited at all with their candidate. Hopefully a few more elections and we can turn this state blue.

(18 posts)We start voting here in Brownbackistan on Monday as well. Interesting, you had Anne Richards and we had Kathleen Sibelius - and look at who our states have in office now. I'm with you though, I think that we are at end of the backlash - i.e, the anger at the shift in power that the President Obama, progressive women, the LGBT community, the growth of minorities who are fast becoming the majority, as evidence by some of the most divisive issues in this election - and we are ready to move forward!
