I got them talkin votin blues
Woke up this mornin and looked at the clock
Saw it was already time to rock
Cuz the polls were open if ya know what I mean
So I thought I'd head out and let off some steam
Votin, that is
Gonna paint my town blue again
Well, I thought I'd take myself a chance
Get on over to the nearest library branch
And mark my ballot with lots of blues
It's a right I earned: I've paid my dues
Votin against the crazies, that is
Standin up for folks what has a clue
So I drinked my tea and pulled on my pants
And walkin out the door, done a happy dance
But when I got there, couldn't believe mine eyen
Cuz at polls there wuz a long line
Of people votin, that is
All kinds of em standing there sighin
Well, I didn't wanna stick around
So I left the library and went downtown
Thought maybe wouldn't be a long line there
But actually there wuz, in case ya care
Stretched all the way down the block, they did
Like a bunch of chillun takin up a dare
Well, I still didn't get stick in a queue
So I set off for the site at a nearby U
Cuz I thought those college kids won't vote
Big mob of em there, though, like they just got off a boat
Crowdin the doors to vote, that is
Say, what's gotten into everyone? Is this a joke?
Mebbe you've heard bout some 'thusiasm gap
But far as I can tell, that's just a load of crap
Cuz my town votes deep blue, year after year
And I've never seen nothing like what's happenin here
Standin in long lines to early vote, that is
On the very first day
