The real problem with this woman is that she is a cold fish. She has no warmth to her, she is aloof and distant. She always has the look on her face that she wants to be somewhere else.
Even though I always held it against Laura Bush for marrying George Bush and think it showed a lack of judgment on her part, I always thought she was a warm and decent person. Ann Romney does not have that and she would make a terrible First Lady.

(53,032 posts)is that she's married to Mitt. That's all that matters. We don't need him as President.

(95,337 posts)I love that Michelle created a first garden because I think gardening is something all families should try even if it's just a large basket filled with a tomato plant. I did my first garden this year and I know because of it I was eating more vegetables than normal.
Ann will have that torn up in 5 minutes and put in a stable for some of her $500k horses instead.

(1,412 posts)Barbara Bush, who I think is a very nasty person, especially after the horrible insensitive remarks she made regarding the survivors of Katrina. quote:
Former first lady Barbara Bush said that the New Orleans refugees being housed in the Houston Astrodome were 'underprivileged anyway", so this is working very well for them.

(95,337 posts)Yet some reason the teabaggers find her the idea first lady. My guess if today's tea party existed pre-US Revolution they would have sided with England. It seems they want leaders who 'rule' over them and not actually run a Government that is 'By the People, for the People' (yes I know that was a Civil War quote).

(9,033 posts)all these teabaggers would have been Tories during the Revolution....They don't realize the Founders were the radicals of the era and the original Tea Party was a protest against a taxcut, i.e. a subsidy for the biggest corporation in the world at that time. Too bad they don't understand either history or irony.

(10,115 posts)Pat Nixon, Betty Ford (how did she get on this boat), Nancy Reagan, Barbara Bush, Laura Bush..Democratic First Ladies are just more interesting.

(15,412 posts)One could argue the GOP would not have nominated her hubby because she was too human?
It is a thought provoking list. I liked Laura the best because she said she was only a republican by marriage. Don't think she really liked the political scene. her kids haven't really taken it up (yet?)
Ann is a different story. She's the very definition of nouveau riche. As is Mitt. Compare them to JFK and FDR. Old money vs new money. Age old stereotypes that hit the mark with the Romneys.

(9,033 posts)either doormats or entitled aristocrats (in their own minds). Either way, very one-dimensional...with the already-stated exception of Betty Ford.

(63,221 posts)the worst of all of the potential first ladies. She is evil, crass, arrogant, rude, and worst of all thinks that she desevers the title of First Lady becaus she is just "so SPECIAL". I can't wait to see them lose.

(22,165 posts)I don't think I ever offered an opinion of Laura Bush ... for a multitude or reasons i really dislike Ann Romney.
I think she is an elitist swine ... that believes she has a "special" place is this world ... that she is entitled to all of the good fortune that has come her way ... and certainly not deserving of any misfortune. I believe she feels no gratitude of all of the good fortune in her (and her family's life) ... she simply feels entitled to it.
I get the impression that she believes if you are not as FORTUNATE as she is (though she does not view it as good fortune) it is because you don't deserve it.
