The picture on the front of DU got me thinking, did Rmoney breed all of those little disrespectful heathens just for the tax breaks you can get for having kids?
Judging by what one of the heathens said after the debate, it's obvious they don't have any manners, and are extremely disrespectful to the office of the President.
Like father, like son, I say!

(219 posts)that's got to be just a secondary reason, or a 'bonus' on top of the tax breaks themselves- not his primary objective, I say.
The guy was obviously never at home, while he was amassing his Millions and Billions(TM). What would make you think he gives two shits about fruitifying and multiplying?

(82,383 posts)I think Mormons are said to have large families for this reason, in fact Mormons or former Mormons of DU have said this.
The Osmonds had 11 kids and each of them seems to have 6 or so.
Tagg has 6. Wonder how many each of the other Rmoney brothers has.

(115,731 posts)The tax breaks you get for having kids are inconsequential to someone as rich as Romney. That's just pocket change to him. He had a lot of kids because Mormons are expected to reproduce like rabbits so there are plenty of spirit beings to populate the planet Kolob. Or something like that.
The fact that his kids also seem to be ill-mannered probably has to do with that whole family's general attitude of entitlement. These apples didn't fall far from the tree at all.

(219 posts)I don't think he got to have Millions and Billions(TM) by letting a few dollars here and there slip through his fingers. Scrooge became Scrooge because his wallet squeaked when he opened it. Rmoney, I imagine, is no different.
That being said, I don't have any kids, so I'm not sure what all tax breaks go with that. What sort of breaks does one get?

(115,731 posts)He's too rich for the $1,000 per kid tax credit (not that $5K would mean much to him). The per-person deduction (as opposed to credit) is $3,800. $3,800 x 5 = $19,000, which is a deduction rather than an exemption and would result in a fairly negligible reduction in his total tax. Deductions and exemptions for children are aimed at lower- and middle-class people who have to pay higher taxes on their earned income. The wealthy, taxed only at the lower capital gains rate, don't need them.
Mitt's car elevator cost $55K.
