At a minimum, excluding cellphones means these polls are increasingly reliant on statistical weighting. They might make up for a lack of young people, for instance, by counting several times the answers from the few younger respondents. Peter Miller, a recent president of the American Association for Public Opinion Research, points out the root problem with weighting: The more you rely on weights, the more you risk being wrong for reasons you dont understand.

Landline users tend to be more rural. And rural populations tend to be older... at least in my area, that is certainly the case.
We didn't have coverage around here until just a little over a year ago.

Too bad their models do not work. There are many of us technically literate baby boomers who embrace things like iPhones, Linux, and have been using the Inet for years.
The pollsters ignore us to their failure.
