The $1500 diamond encrusted business card

Think you’ve got this life thing cracked? Think again. Have you received the magical invitation from Black Astrum asking you to sign up for its diamond encrusted business cards? No, no you haven’t. Come on, work harder.

A specialist in diamond-based design, Black Astrum is actively targeting what they call ‘ultra-high net worth individuals across Europe, the Middle East and Asia’ as evidenced by its invitation-only policy.

The bespoke cards are made from a precision cast acrylic fabricated in Switzerland and are specially coated to be scratch and chemical resistant which helps to maintain their glossy finish.

Due to each design’s unique specifications costs will fluctuate, but the average selling price is around £1,000 ($1,534) for each card (yes, you read that correctly) and a set of 30 cards will contain around 30 carats.

and art are an important part of one's life--not everything should be North Korean in drudgery, greyness and misery.

But this? This is fucking OBSCENE. One of those cards could feed how many kids for a month?

What a waste. A hideous, offensive waste.

Worst crime? They're UGLY. What pompous ASTRUM thought up that lousy idea? It's as stupid as the "diamond encrusted" underwear they come out with to tout that lingerie show--but at least that stupid excess works to create jobs and commerce. These stupid cards have a VERY small market. Big fail, as the kids say!

Just when I thought demolishing a $12M house because you could was, along comes this. Not only does it say "Hey look at me I have a better job than you! Ha ha!", it says "I'm a pompous asshole who doesn't give a fuck" on top of that!

I work for an engineerig firm and I know it's entirely possible to bring a house up to code without demolishing it completely - which could have been easily done But we'll save that for another debate.

I won't say that it's not possible but I will say that it is possible to fix the foundation for far less than the cost of tearing it down and rebuilding from scratch. Because not only do you have to pay all the demolition fees (including the plans for demolition) you also have to pay for all the designing and rebuilding on top of the construction costs, and those add up.

It took me a while to remember his name-Benny Ray.

I didn't think that was wretched excess. I still don't.

Because Benny would get up each morning and load up his red pick-up truck with tires. A good 6 feet above the cab roof and distribute them to gas stations and other vendors.

He was in his late 70's early 80's. I, in the past 30 years, only have seen one pick-up stacked as high as Benny's who did it, most of the time, alone.

Some people deserve a little luxury ...like Benny who financed his nephew's (???) record. That is how I met one of the hardest working and joyful people I have ever met.
