This was a show CNN did about Romney going to France during the Vietnam War and how horrific and difficult it was!
Snip>
Thats right, in 1968, the year in which the highest number of American deaths in Vietnam were reported (16,592), France was a dangerous place to be for a 21-year-old American who was avoiding service in Vietnam. Aside from the constant danger of having ones eye put out by an errant baguette, what hardships did Mitt Romney face while he was in country?
Well, all those dying Americans were causing protests in France, and as a result, says fellow Romney missionary Mike Bush, There was no train service, there were no buses, no newspapers. The electricity would go off from time-to-time.
The electricity would go off from time-to-time? Mon Dieu. Think of the horrific flashbacks to rudely-interrupted Gilligans Island reruns and spoiled escargot. But the horrors of Vietnam-era France didnt end there.

(12,511 posts)to avoid going to France handing out mormon bibles door to door. You were slackers then. Now your just a 47%er not taking any responsibility for your life.
Particularly, the tunnel rat guys slithering head first with a service 45 into the underground tunnel system looking for the enemy and leaving his comrades above ground open to snipers from VC or NVN regulars.
And while you guys were complaining about Agent Orange and mosquitoes, poor Mitt went hours without electricity, and checks from Dad were late at the post office.
The Horror....the Horror.....the Horror.

The coddling of the reich wing doesn't get more blatant than this. Reminds me of when they made a documentary lauding how "grass roots" the Koch's Tea Party were.
