The debate is show for the ill informed. It is great political theatre for those of us that feed on it. But seriously a well informed American has no need to watch any of these debates. The campaign is over a year old at this point. I got class tonight so I'll miss all three games tonight, but I am not pretending the debate isn't just another game...

Good thing I have TiVo, so I can tape the football game tonight and masturbate to it after I write my debate review article.

Majority of Americans hate politics.

The only people legitimately worried or nervous about this election are political/news junkies. Most Americans don't think it makes a difference who wins. Only 57% of the voting-age population voted in 2008. That means more than 100 million Americans that were eligible to vote did not cast any ballot.

Clips (and the analysis and the spin) will be shown incessantly for the next several days. About the only thing folks might miss is the nuances and the overall "feel."

on every major holiday, so exceptions here. Do most people have more than one tv in their house (I only have one)? I suspect if someone wants to watch the debate, there are enough venues to make it possible (radio, internets, tv in bedroom)

My 10 y.o. daughter knows all the HS girls from VB camp this summer, and our next-door neighbor is a starter.

That category is reality TV.

I don't enjoy watching reality TV. I makes me uncomfortable.

If for some reason I care about the outcome, I can read about it the next day.

Consider what percentage of the population is still undecided and what percentage of the undecided will care enough to watch. By far the audience for this debate is going to be people that are already committed to a candidate.
