What republicans are telling my hair dresser here in the heart of Mormondom (its good for us)

I don't know many republicans. The ones I do know are at work and don't need the conflict there.

Hair dressers are different. They make small talk with their customers and in deep red Utah, my hair dresser has lots of Republican clients.

I asked her today if we were going to win (she's a dem, both our mothers died 2 weeks ago I wanted to change the subject as we were both so sad). She gave me a "duh" look. Yeah, of course she said. She said all of her republican clients are not happy about Romney (some of them have to be Mormon, I mean, this is Utah!) and depressed about the election. She said they are all telling her "there is no good choice this year."

I know a couple of Mormon "independents" who HATE Romney because he scares them (no core, won't tell us what he'll do, robotic etc.)

We have a pool in the office "what percentage will Romney get in Utah". I've got under 75%. I'm the lowest. Everyone else picked a higher number. I'm gonna win. True, won't mean a thing in the outcome of the race but it is good to hear.

Hubby has endured many years of right-wing nutjob rhetoric among his business contacts, which usually reaches a fever pitch during election season and was especially insane in 2008. This year, he says, even the most vocal ones are being very quiet. None of them want to talk politics right now, and we think that speaks volumes.

Took a long, winding drive through my neighborhood this afternoon looking for campaign signs. Saw two for Obama, three Romney, and three for the county sheriff's race. That's it. In the past, every other yard seemed to be blanketed with Republican signs, but that's not the case this year. Not that I think Oklahoma will even go pink anytime soon, but no one seems excited about Romney.

Edited to add: I'm so sorry about your mom; I lost mine last year. You have my deepest sympathy.
