I couldn't figure out what had changed. I live in a county that's about half dem, half rep, but the specific part of the county I live in is conservative. And suddenly the other day drivers started being very aggressive with me. I couldn't figure out what had changed but then I remembered I just finally got my Obama/Biden sticker and I'd put that on.
I haven't had this reaction in previous years. They're nastier this year, much more mean spirited, and I feel like they know they're going to lose. I've never felt an urge to become nasty and tailgate and pass aggressively when I see someone with a Romney/Ryan bumper sticker.
I hope for a good debate performance tonight, but I don't think a bad one will cause the president to lose. I'm pretty confident at this point. Now it's just a case of GOTV.

(30,947 posts)I have a Obama/Biden bumper sticker and I am afraid to put it on the car. Last election, I had an Obama sticker on my car and I was followed by cops to intimidate me.

(46,416 posts)Dingbat woman tailgated me because I was going the speed limit on a residential street, then pulled around me and sped off. I don't know if it was my Obama car magnet for sure, but generally I like to piss off such folks by slowing down.

(13,218 posts)due to their fecal stained and unworkable political philosophy. I fear it will only get worse as they disregard, democratic principles and embrace extra-legal and illegitimate methods to get and keep their politicians in power. The party is defunct and no longer a feasible party within a Democracy (although they might thrive in a fascist state).

(5,969 posts)I'm sorry for you, but you can't let them get to you. I think the best way to handle them is just ignoring them and pretending that one isn't aware of them. At least that it what I tend to do. Don't watch in the rear mirror. What they want the most is a reaction to their behaviour. Don' t give them this pleasure. When someone else is in the car, make it obvious that you talk to them and that you are relaxed.
As another poster already mentioned, don't drive faster than the speed limit permits and drive contantly at the same speed. People who drive aggressively get even more pissed when you drive at a constant speed. Eventually, they will lose the patience and you get rid of them. I'd even assume that the slower you drive, the safer it is for you.
