http://slog.thestranger.com/slog/archives/2012/01/12/what-would-jesus-do-church-groups-to-close-bank-of-america-accountsTomorrow, during a 1:30 pm rally at the Bank of America (BoA) branch in the University District, representatives from the Faith Action Network and the Church Council of Greater Seattle will close their organizations' bank accounts, and then walk a block and a half down the street to deposit their money into not-for-profit credit union BECU. Both organizations have been banking with BoA, and its predecessor, SeaFirst, since the early 1970s.
"This small step is a reminder to the bank and community that the greed and continued reaping of windfall profits at the expense of taxpayers and bank customers is immoral, and the economic crisis and disparities perpetrated by mega banks an outrage," the church groups wrote in a joint statement.

(60,567 posts)They added me as a "co-borrower" on my former wife's credit card without my knowledge or consent. I found out about it MANY years after our divorce.
I tried to get my name removed, but the bank refused. Now she's behind on her payments, and MY credit is all jacked up.
Stay tuned.

(60,567 posts)...which says the debt is not now my responsibility nor was it ever.
Her exact words were.
Get ready for it.
You may not believe this. Or maybe you might...
"We don't honor court orders."
Of course the VERY FIRST THING I DID after they first refused to take my name off the account in 2009, when it was still current, was to ask for a copy of the credit application showing my signature, by which I consented to be responsible for the card.
They couldn't produce it, and said "We only have to keep those for three years."
So they have never made any attempt to collect any of it from me, but they persist in reporting it as my debt to Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian.
They are major assholes.

(60,567 posts)They go to the bank and say "Is this information correct?"
Bank says "Yes, according to our records it is correct."
The credit companies DO NOT get into the nuts and bolts of a dispute. The fact that the bank has NO PAPER to back up its computer files doesn't matter.
If I push a little harder I may be able to get them to remove the information because there is some uncertainty (per a provision of the FCRA,) but that is a long process and probably best handled by a professional i.e. an attorney.
I'm going for the jugular.

(24,159 posts)My Seattle-area credit union is considering ending their relationship with BECU because, according to one rep, "They sort of forgot how to act like a credit union."
