romney is going to be here. They usually (always) have trick or treat the Thursday before Halloween, weather forecast 75 and sunny, now it's going to be Tues. Oct 30, weather forecast 52, overcast with a 40% chance of rain. I'd say he definitely lost the kid vote. What a guy!

(16,230 posts)How does that work? How can they change when people trick or treat? They can pass laws about kids knocking on neighbor's doors?

(16,230 posts)It's not like it's some government activity.
But never mind, it's not worth arguing about.

(9,681 posts)on a certain day and a certain time if you want to participate. If you are giving out treats leave your porch light on. Groups of kids go from house to house in the residential neighborhoods, knock on the door and say "trick or treat", people there give them candy. At the end of the allotted time the kids go home and stuff themselves with their candy. I don't understand why people are having such a hard time understanding this.
This is not technically a city as much as a mid size town of just over 16,000. Besides whose arguing?

(5,815 posts)Halloween falls on a Sunday. We have extremely conservative folks living here and they have issues with Halloween period, but especially if it falls on a Sunday.
I am almost 64 years old and I never recall Halloween being changed back in the 50s and 60s when I was growing up..... no matter when it fell. School night, Sunday, whatever. We went trick or treating on Oct. 31st. (I lived in Jackson, Mississippi at the time.)
Too bad Mitt's presence put such a pall on Halloween. But guess it was bound to happen. He is pretty much a kill joy.

(9,681 posts)knows when the kids will be around and be ready for them. You know like having candy to hand out. It is done by city officials, the same way every year.

We used to trick or treat on Halloween, period. Everyone knew enough to have candy on hand.

(3,182 posts)I remember one year, the "Christians" were all in an uproar because Halloween fell on Sunday. So they changed the Trick or Treat Day to some other stupid day.
And the kids went trick or treating on BOTH days.
Yep, they quit doing that.
