(1,660 posts)The right wing is drudging up a story about the WH receiving an email from a terrorist group claiming responsiblity for the embassy attack AFTER the attack happened. Somehow this is supposed to prove that the WH knew it was terrorism and planned. Terrorist groups are always claiming responsibility for attacks even ones that they did not actually do. And there are still mixed signals as to whether it was truly planned or spontaneous or a mix of both. The nuance is lost on conservatives. This may play for the rest of the week but I don't see it having a big effect on the election.

(1,660 posts)Nothing contradicts what the WH has already said about this issue. Plus the stories just say that a group claimed responsibility on facebook and it mentions another group also claimed responsibility. There were also reports that it was totally spontaneous and thus these groups might have taken advantage of the confusion to claim responsibility for an attack they didn't do. I'm not sure what conservatives would have wanted? For the WH just to say a certain group actually did the attack, when it wasn't known for certain?

(8,652 posts)As I look at the electoral college map, it's not that different than what I think today's vote would be.
I expect Obama to get stronger before the election, but the map has Ohio as an undecided state but with Obama the favorite to win it. If he does, and all the other states hold true on this map, WE are at 271 and a victory, even if the other toss-up, Iowa, doesn't come our way.
To me, this map says we win.
