why we all should chill, courtesy of Politico

Yes, Politico.

Each morning I get an email from Mike Allen featuring what is in his Political Playbook.

Allow me to offer the first paragraph of this morning's:

MORNING MINDMELD : As an antidote to the (perhaps) irrational Republican exuberance that seems to have seized D.C., we pause for the following public-service announcement. To be President, you have to win states, not debates. And Mitt Romney has a problem. Despite a great debate and what The Wall Street Journal's Neil King Jr. on Sunday called a polling "surge," Romney has not put away a single one of the must-have states. President Obama remains the favorite because he only needs to win a couple of the toss-ups. Mitt needs to win most of them. A cold shower for the GOP: Most polling shows Romney trailing in Ohio, Wisconsin, Nevada, New Hampshire and Iowa - by MORE than Obama trails in North Carolina. Glenn Thrush and Jonathan Martin reminded of us of the 2008 primary analogy: Whatever else Hillary Clinton had, Barack Obama had the math. And math, not momentum, gets you the big house, the bulletproof car, the cool plane. We now resume our regularly scheduled Playbook.

......................

Again please note the following:

A cold shower for the GOP: Most polling shows Romney trailing in Ohio, Wisconsin, Nevada, New Hampshire and Iowa - by MORE than Obama trails in North Carolina.

4. Even Schmuck Toad briefly had to concede to that "math" fact early this morning.

He may have to change the tune to abide with his RW shilling on his own show but the tiny concession seemed to maybe be the tiniest cracking of their fabrication to start shifting to reality.

Allen's comments about having to win states not debates to become president just grated on Joe's nerves. I love it when that happens.

And his guests often trip him up. It's a lovely thing to watch.

I think he's working up a head of steam right now, trying SO hard to pretend Romney's got a chance at this election. I can't wait for Wednesday, Nov. 7th's show and watch him twist slowly, slowly in the wind...

I'm glad to see this, not because I'm enormously relieved that it's pretty much sewn up for us but that the eternal chicken little act on the left is futile and aggravating. If running around bewailing inevitable doom was going to produce good results we'd have avoided Republicans ever having gained power for the past thirty-five years. The only thing that wailing and gnashing of beaks has done is make liberals look like losers. Better to peck and attack than panic and back track, to continue with the chicken analogy.

Joe was spinning so hard this morning and Chuck and Halperin were not their usual smiling pushing Romney selves.

If "the polls" show a close race, voter suppression and crooked voting machines could swing states to Romney. The GOP will stop at nothing to win. We probably know only the tip of the iceberg about what they are doing.

Although Mike Allen has his opinion, Halpern has his, as well.
Frankly, I don't see how those two can sit in the same room with Heileman and even think that any of the 3 men are on the same page.

While, Halpern has become a piece of furniture on Joe Scarbrow's program for the last 6 months or so, since he is there nearly every day, he doesn't bring any facts to the table to back up anything that he says.
Heileman is already touting a new book that he intends to have published about the many faces of Romney that Mitt showed during this long, torturous campaign.

But, the problem that strikes me the most during this last month is that after Romney supposedly "won" the first debate, he got a 3-point bounce in the polls.
Yet, after President Obama beat Romney like a rented mule during the 2nd debate, he didn't receive squat in the polls.
Chuck Todd was absolutely giddy to tell us on Saturday morning that the polls were "47-47" a virtual "dead heat."

Which tells me, there is a huge problem with those polls, and the way they are taken.

Add to that, the 3rd debate when Romney looked like a junior high student getting lectured to by a college professor, and the next day they were already saying that the polls won't change because of it, and I think we have uncovered the biggest scandal of this year's campaign -- the pollsters are lying to us.

More or less, the same way they did in 2008, when McCain fumbled, stumbled, and mumbled his way through the entire campaign while Moose Lady was shouting "Obama pals around with terrorists" and I sat back in total disbelief then.
The mainstream media hardly ever criticized McCain or Palin for that despicable display of horse hockey.

So, once again this year, the mainstream media, and all the pundits, just act like Romney is a valid candidate with a viable economic plan.

They pretend that somehow the rest of us who live out here in tvland are just too stupid to be able to use calculators and add up all of the numbers by ourselves.

Simply using the numbers that Romney has said are in his plan and how he would balance his budget by firing Big Bird, while building 15 new surface naval ships and 3 submarines a year, increase the Defense Department's budget by 50%, turn Medicare into "a coupon system", eliminate Social Security for anyone under 55 years of age, eliminate Medicaid completely, reduce Pell Grants to college students until they are so ineffective they will be eliminated altogether, while reinstating Bush's tax cuts for the top 1% of the millionaires and billionaires in this country!!!

And they never mention that the Republican House of Representatives has yet to pass a Jobs Bill, while they complain incessantly about the number of unemployed people in this country!!

"Where are the jobs, Mr. Boehnor?"

Is that such a hard question to answer??

Evidently it is, whenever there is a black man in the White House.

And that's not even mentioning the record number of filibusters that the lilly white Republican Senators used in the Senate for the last 2 years!!

He's actually one of those dusty old pictures that hangs on the wall of a dive bar that if removed, reveals a clean spot underneath.
