This is why leaders almost ALWAYS hold their cards close to their vests in situations like this. Even if you know what's going on - you don't necessarily run out to the press and give everything away immediately.

Very often, the situation on the ground is confusing, communications are poor, and even people on the scene aren't sure what's happening.
