Note the issue here is not abortion, but RAPE.
And the GOP is DOUBLING DOWN! Simply incredible how unrealistic and inhumane the GOP has become. You're reading it here first... the GOP is imploding into a very small minority of extreme nut jobs.

Romney: The Ad Stays; Continues to Endorse Mourdock
I don't even need to write an excerpt here. It's simply astounding.
You've got nut job #1: Akin ("Women's bodies can shut down pregnancy in forcible rape"
Nut Job #2: Walsh ("Abortion can *never* save a woman's life"
Nut Job #3: Mourdock ("Rape is God's gift"
And Romney has only made one endorsement ad for ANY candidate. And that is Mourdock, who has made the latest and probably the most extreme statement regarding rape.
America, this is your representative sample of GOP candidates.
Do we need to go any further? The party has become as big an embarrassment to this country as the KKK. And I don't think that statement is hyperbolic.
Again, I believe we are witnessing the end of the GOP.
They've alienated everyone but old white (possibly Evangelical) men from the south.

(47,537 posts)Both Akin and, supposedly a "doctor" claimed that the woman's vagina gets into a spasm during rape and this is why the sperm cannot swim.
So I have to ask: how would you know about that, unless you've experienced it personally? (i.e. raping a woman)?

(9,748 posts)It should be:
Nutjob #1 (Akin): "Women's bodies can shut down pregnancy in legitimate rape."
Nutjob #2 (Walsh): "Abortion is *never* necessary to save a woman's life."
Nutjob #3 (Mourdock): "A child is God's gift to a rape victim."
Walsh did not say abortion can not save a woman's life. He said it was never necessary to save her life. And, of course, he is incredibly wrong.
Mourdock did not say rape is God's gift. He said a child who results from that rape is God's gift. Many rape victims actually agree with that statement. They are entitled to that opinion. But forcing that opinion onto other rape victims is downright inhumane.
One of the earliest outrages perpetrated by the UK military against the North American colonies was allowing Indians to keep the children born to the colonial women they kidnapped and raped during Pontiac's Rebellion. Colonists welcomed the children. I'm fairly certain that they did not welcome the rape.

(23,018 posts)and I believe I captured the essence. I'm sickened by these issues even being the topic of political discussion. They have no place in today's world.

(17,199 posts)Where is the ad linking these clowns, with their crazy statements.
The War On Women seems to have "faded" in the discussion the past few weeks.
Maybe that's why Romney somewhat closed the gender gap.
The president needs to put out a REMINDER what is at stake.
A new round of ads linking these clowns and presenting their misogynistic comments is in order.
