OMG OMG
John Rich and Randy Owen must have been drunk as skunks. Romney looked absolutely mortified!! Singers put their hands on Romney's shoulders and the look was mortification!!
Thanks Lucinda for reminding me to add it.

Mitt looks uncomfortable. He looks like he doesn't know the words. Though tempted to thrust a microphone in Mitt's face, a singer noticed Mitt's miming facade, and didn't pull the trigger. Too bad, it would have been a huge moment for late night television and a perceptional image disastor for Mitt.
Using the failed "Romny/Ryan" chant as the standard, I give it an 8 out of 10 conditional on it remaining obscure. If it gets exposure on a late night show, the score is 10 out of 10. In other words, just as entertaining as the failed "Romney/Ryan" chant.
Edit: After watching a couple more times, I hereby declare this as the new standard to replace the "Romny/Ryan" chant. All further amusing Mitt campaign wackiness will be compared to this for future scoring.
hfojvt
(37,573 posts)to the version they were singing.
They seem to have started in verse two and then mangled the chorus and mutilated verse three while caterwauling completely off key.
Next time, try a little rehearsal or something.
That was so bad, it is almost like Mitt was punked and they did that song to help Obama.
JHB
(37,163 posts)Is there any resemblance, or was it pure booze singing?
hfojvt
(37,573 posts)at least one started "oh beautiful for heroes proved, in liberating strife" and then they stumbled, or caught their breath and jumped in late to bark out "who more than self, their country loved, and mercy more than life" but then I do not remember if they did the right chorus or just went back to the chorus from the first verse.
That verse should have continued, I believe, with "America, America, God mend thine every flaw. Confirm thy soul with self control, thy liberty in law."
Whereas they may have gone to the more familiar "America, America, God shed His Grace on thee, and crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea."
I am NOT gonna listen to it again though. It is too painful to hear even with the sorta barely audible sound. If Democrats had butchered a patriotic classic like that, the media would be eviscerating them as traitors or something. Instead, Yahoo is painting it as a positive story. "Meatloaf surprises Romney with an endorsement."

(695 posts)On October 25, 2012 Meat Loaf endorsed Mitt Romney for President of the United States [67] citing the Cold War as a major reason he had been "arguing for Mitt Romney for a year". Meat Loaf explained that I have never been in any political agenda in my life, but I think that in 2012 this is the most important election in the history of the United States, because there has (sic) storm clouds come over the United States. There is (sic) thunder storms over Europe. There are hail storms and I mean major hail storms! in the Middle East. There are storms brewing through China, through Asia, through everywhere."

Here are some of the gems:
"Meat Loaf is an awesome singer Havent listened to him in a long time"
"Meat Loaf is one of the good guys."
"OMG. I would have driven to Ohio if I had known Meatloaf was performing. I have been following him since he played in The Rocky Horror Picture Show!"
"OMG, I can see some good food and rock & roll back in the White House."
"lets see what the networks do with this tomorrow"
"Can we get Meat Loaf and Ted Nugent to team up and do a nationwide conservative rockers tour?"
"Operatic-like voice. What a voice!"
And maybe the best one:
"this endorsement- I think - is bigger than it seems i think it could hit some 50/60 year old fence-sitters in a good way"

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/election-2012/wp/2012/10/25/meatloaf-endorses-romney-in-ohio/
Which raises the question, "In what respect, Charlie?" Maybe Meat should have used one of his lifelines...

(17,651 posts)At the end of the rally, as fireworks went off overhead, Meat Loaf joined Romney on stage and the two joined to sing America the Beautiful together.
In an amusing coincidence, Romneys wife, Ann Romney, appeared earlier today on the daytime cooking show hosted by Rachel Ray, during which she made her husbands favorite dish: Meatloaf.
There you have it, Ann is responsible for cooking the meatloaf.
As I suspected, they'd try to wallpaper over it. Nothing to see here folks.......

Anyway.. like the story on ABC and featured on Yahoo last night, this one is SERIOUSLY touting the Meat Loaf endorsement as something AWESOME!!!!
A "sequined rock star!" Meat Loaf a "rock star?" He loves Romney because of his "backbone" lol. Actually, the other article stated that Meat Loaf was moved to support Romney because of his comments on "Russia" and that we need someone to take on Russia and the "storm clouds in Europe." Yep.. they dont' mention that Meat Loaf and that other guy from Alabama were obviously drunk out of their minds, and couldn't sing a note. Nope.. it was a serious fucking article about how GREAT the endorsement was....
Yes.. the same media hacks that allow the attacks on Colin Powell's endorsement.
