She's trying so desperately to come across as the average woman, and the media is happy to oblige.

"Heres one thing you may not know about Ann Romney: She makes mean meat loaf cakes.
Heres another: Shes a loyal Costco shopper.
Mitt Romneys better half played up her down-to-earth side during an appearance on the Rachael Ray Show, getting her hands dirty shaping her meatloaf cakes, and taking the shows camera crew on a tour of Costco.
With her husbands campaign trying desperately to tailor its outreach to women, the would-be First Lady let viewers of the episode Thursday in on a little secret: Mitts a huge romantic.

(22,336 posts)They're cooked in a mini cupcake pan so they take less time to cook and cook more evenly. It works really well.
But anyway, in our house we call it "Mike's Eye" because I make a blog of mashed potato and then stick the meatloaf cake in the top middle like the eye from Mike in Monster's Inc. Then I use ketchup to make a mouth.
(I serve veggies on the side too.)

(284 posts)Yea, we are supposed to believe that mega-millionaires shop at Costco. She is trying to make herself look real by taking a tour of Costco. In addition, doesn't she know that the CEO of Costco thinks that her husband is a moron?

(22,336 posts)I do that too. Much better than a big loaf.
I am a white, affluent, Sunday-school teaching, stay-at-home, Midwestern mom, who can't stand Ann Romney and doesn't need her cooking techniques. Doesn't she have staff to handle cooking and other domestic duties? Why did Rachel Ray let her on her show?
I think "Mitt is a huge romantic" would equate to "Mitt is a bullshitter." The two often converge.

The chances that Queen Ann has even been inside a Costco once: 2%
The chances that Queen Ann has cooked or baked once since, oh say 1990: 1%
