Here's the deal: I will donate $25 to the candidate of YOUR choice. Most compelling argument wins.

Good morning DU buddies.

So, here's the deal. I've made a lot of small donations this political season. I can make one more on payday. I feel really good about my choices I've made so far but I know there are some smaller races flying under the radar out there. Maybe even some big ones that have shifted because of Romney's horrid performances. So I've decided to let you guys make a sales pitch for a candidate of your choosing. The person who writes the best argument wins for their candidate. You can say President Obama but I'm really hoping for a smaller race. I've made a couple donations to Obama already and I'm thinking this time I want to spread the wealth a little bit.

Since it my contest I will make these rules:

Um.... Romney doesn't count just in case the freepers attack .
candiates with "+1"s or lots of seconds will be weighted accordingly
I will donate on pay day (Thursday)
Local elections are important and count.
I will admit that I will probably be more easily swayed by a close election--though, some of those red states don't do a lot of polling so the final decision will be based on your power of persuasion.
If there are two that are so good I can't decide I might split the money.

I hope that your moving words will also inspire some other DUers to drop a few bucks in your candidate's direction.

she is within the margin of error with Thompson. She is the first openly gay candidate and if she wins she will be part of history (this would be the highest office an openly gay candidate will have been elected to). She needs help to fight Thompson's $1mil influx with ads saying she didn't support 9/11 responders.

Since money donated now would most likely help with GOTV this is a twofer.

They'll be handling GOTV, and it's largely the same since Liz Brown (ODP Finance Chair) is Sherrod's daughter.

Michelle Bachmann--that's an argument that speaks for itself.
Besides, she has a ton of money, the vast majority of it from out of state interest groups, billionaires, and right wing nut jobs.

And we are deeply divided. Missouri has two large cities and several more largish cities which have heavier concentrations of liberals/Democrats, then there is the rest of the state. So when there is good turnout in the cities and surrounding areas we manage to get some Democrats in. I think we could turn blue if Democrats could hold on to the offices they have right now, gain a few more and hold onto them for awhile.

Personally I think the biggest issue these days is that the ultra conservative religious nuts seem to be emboldened. And we are in the bible belt, which means there are a lot of them. They are supporting people like akin no matter what. The state board of education president has donated to akin, after the legitimate rape comment. It's crazy and kind of scary here these days. If the polls are to be believed akin and McCaskill are in a dead heat. I don't know if she has any coat tails to ride really.

One issue Kander has going for him is that his opponent wants to do away with mail in absentee voting, which means our military members would be excluded from voting.

Missouri is a microcosm that reflects the geographic condition of the US. The populous areas are at the mercy of the rural voters, particularly in the General Assembly. We really need a Democrat SOS to protect the majority.

and I am seeking to defeat the House Republican leader. His job as caucus head is to funnel large amounts of cash (he got a check last week for $75,000 from a Nevada billionaire) to Repub house candidates all over the state. If I can make him spend money on his own race in the last week, it'll take pressure off Democratic candidates all over Oregon, giving us a much better shot at breaking the tie in the House and getting good things done in the next session.

Plus, I am a DU member and the candidate.

I'm your guy.

Here's a four-part argument:

1) This is an extremely competitive race (Cook Political has it as a toss-up).

2) A win here would be a House seat pick-up

3) We'd be getting rid of one of the wildest Tea Party kooks (Alan West)

4) Supporting GOTV in a race in a toss-up State (FL) will have an up-ticket benefit for President Obama.

We need to get that moron and chief obstructionist Cantor out of the House yesterday. Link is in my sig.

For your enjoyment (from the 2011 debt ceiling hostage situation)

And his tweet on Labor Day 2012, a shoutout to "job creators", because "Labor Day".

Somewhere, I have a political cartoon of him in a baby rocker, in diapers, sucking a pacifier (also from the debt ceiling days), but can't find it. Pity that - it was hilarious.

but it made me think that there are a few republican candidates for whom we should take up a collection on DU. There some republicans who need about an hour of prime time exposure. Put them on the air and let them talk all they want. The more they talk, the more votes they will lose. Just can't help themselves. Come to think of it, an hour is way too much. Five minutes of steady talking for someone like Mourdock or Aiken should be sufficient to torpedo their chances

Have a few minutes of quality T.V. time on us! Tell all the nice people out there just how wacked you are.
