Romney likens hurricane relief to cleaning up "rubbish and paper products" from a football field.

Is he joking? Probably not.
http://www.salon.com/2012/10/30/mitt_romney_the_hollow_man/

It’s become a platitude to say that no one should be playing politics with Hurricane Sandy, but that’s silly. When the performance of government suddenly becomes a literal matter of life and death to many Americans, we ought to be thinking about what kind of government we want to have, and that involves politics.

It’s impossible not to see that this storm has devastated Mitt Romney’s presidential candidacy. The response to the hurricane has seemed like one long dramatic Obama campaign commercial, a lesson in “We’re all in this together,” while Romney, the man who said he’d dismantle FEMA, flails on the sidelines.

Romney’s “relief” event outside of Dayton, Ohio, was surreal enough to be a campaign parody, with the candidate comparing the federal government’s hurricane relief efforts to the time he and some friends had to clean up a football field strewn with “rubbish and paper products.”

I think they just don't care... it's anyone but the black man. If Trump had won the primaries, he'd be the one they're supporting. I just can't figure out what would have happened if Cain won the primary. They would have been in a hell of a quandary then. Would they have then voted for the light-skin black man?

At least one voting block has him figured out. Melanin in the skin as a factor in judging people has become alien to me (not always the case). I guess the general rule you have too much those with a lesser amount think about it. That it comes down to skin color is something I probably know but ignore from time to time.

James Lipton on Tweety boils down Romney to five words "He wants to be Boss".

I wished for Cain to get the nomination to watch racist republicon heads explode. If Rmoney is elected it will be a victory for the racists and a sad and sorry defeat for the rest of us. Oh, I want this to be over.

and if they don't have any use for us, we're trash. That really is the way that the people who can still stand to be in the Republican Party think. Anyone who had any decency left it a long time ago.

he and his buddies were probably responsible for putting it there - another one of his harmless high school pranks like cutting a gay students hair.

I must say that I never thought I'd be more disgusted with a Presidential candidate than Bush, but this jackass has even beaten that. In fact, now that I think of it, I think Bush did and said the things he did because he didn't really even want to be President so he didn't care. But this A**hole? He isn't even aware of what a jerk he is.

exactly why were he and his friends picked to clear a football field strewn with paper products? Did they have to bring in heavy lifting equipment to get rid of, oh, I don't know BOATS ON TOP OF HOUSES? Cars piled on top of one another? Collapsed buildings? 10 feet of water in over 1000 houses?

Because if he's attempting to compare an afternoon of barely breaking a sweat with a box of Glad trash bags in hand to the task of removing hundred of thousands of metric tons of debris, twisted metal, splintered wood, concrete and whatever else is floating in the water and mud, then he is sicker than I've already realized he is.

He really needs to be in a straightjacket.

Garbage is what he picked up once. And comparing what 4 or 5 kids did for a half an hour is laughable compared to a $50 billion real disaster that killed roughly 50 people. Romney need to stop digging. This is not making him look important. It is making him look foolish and out of touch with reality. Oops, we already knew that.

It as all about how everyone got their own little patch (10 yards) and were each responsible for cleaning it. There were boundaries and you did not cross them to help the other guy.

The analogy breaks down here. We got this plan where everyone cleans their own patch, but a gust of wind comes through (Sandy) and piles all the trash up between the 10 and goal line at one end of the field (because that is what hurricanes do). So 90% sit back and have a beer, and the 10% in charge of that area spend all night and never get it done.

In short his notion works if the damage is spread kind of evenly, but nature in fact almost never does that.
