Romney aides "spent $5,000 on granola bars, canned food, and diapers to put on display"

Romney aides "spent $5,000 on granola bars, canned food, and diapers to put on display" while waiting for donations.

"The Making Of Romney's Storm Relief Event

A scramble to depoliticize a political campaign, and $5,000 in supplies from Wal-Mart. “Just grab something.”

"DAYTON, Ohio — The last-minute decision by Romney high command Monday to suspend politics while Sandy raged sent aides in Ohio scrambling to convert a scheduled victory rally into an apolitical "storm relief event" — a process that tested the campaign's agility, and left a few threads of partisanship inadvertently hanging.
--snip

The plan was for supporters to bring hurricane relief supplies to the event, and then deliver the bags of canned goods, packages of diapers, and cases of water bottles to the candidate, who would be perched behind a table along with a slew of volunteers and his Ohio right-hand man, Senator Rob Portman. To complete the project and photo-op, Romney would lead his crew in carrying the goods out of the gymnasium and into the Penske rental truck parked outside.

But the last-minute nature of the call for donations left some in the campaign concerned that they would end up with an empty truck. So the night before the event, campaign aides went to a local Wal Mart and spent $5,000 on granola bars, canned food, and diapers to put on display while they waited for donations to come in, according to one staffer. (The campaign confirmed that it "did donate supplies to the relief effort," but would not specify how much it spent.)

Just like the soup kitchen photo op.

Yet if Biden had staged a photo op like that, or the Obama campaign made "fake" donations at an event, it would be NONSTOP 24/7 OUTRAGE on all the networks.

Caught in a box

When President Bush gave a speech touting tax breaks for small businesses yesterday, he stood against what appeared to be a backdrop of cardboard boxes stamped "Made in U.S.A."

But the boxes in the south St. Louis warehouse had actually been painted on a large screen behind the president. The real boxes in the warehouse were stamped "Made in China," although someone tried to obscure the stamps by plastering over them with blank white labels.

Asked about one of the labels by The Washington Times, Randy Shore, warehouse manager for J.S. Logistics, smiled and said: "I don't know how it got there." He later explained that the labels would be filled in with numbers to identify their location on racks throughout the warehouse. Pressed on why the stickers were placed precisely over the "Made in China" stamps, he added: "That was as good a place as any." "Nobody instructed me" to obscure the stamp, he insisted.

But the White House later acknowledged that the stickers were affixed intentionally. Deputy Press Secretary Claire Buchan attributed the move to "an overzealous volunteer." "Obviously, it was not appropriate," she added. Asked if an overzealous volunteer was responsible for the "Made in U.S.A." backdrop, she smiled and said: "No."

If he was not as self absorbed as CANCER, he would take his $5,000 in cans donate them to a homeless shelter in OHIO. Then instead of wasteing $20,000,000 fo TV ads in PA which he will never win & the ads make many hate him more, take that money & GIVE IT TO THE RED CROSS!!

Since he has $250.000,000 to $1,000,000,000 dollars laying around a HUGE DONATION would be like chump change to him & he would amaze people.

I do not think he even has this concept in his pathetic little mind.

And even if he figure this out, he will be running around like Monty Hall in "Lets Make A Deal" Chump change for votes, bring out your votes with a wheelbarrow full of nickels.

Hopefully he tries this around 4:30 Monday afternoon "look at me, look at me!"

Rommunism would build potemkin villages of privatized "charity" to attract funding with charades designed to impress without actually solving problems that create need, for were they to do that, were they to actually give those in need "the fishing pole" instead of just giving them the "fish", what need would there be for those who build "mountains of canned fish" for impressive salaries.

Willurd is as disingenuous as anybody I've ever seen. A corporate version of Newt Gingrich, totally cynical, totally lacking in personal integrity. Lying is his personal philosophy, the foundation of everything he does.

Once you understand that, it's easy to see how he would fake a relief effort, just as it's easy to see how he would call Syria "Iran's route to the sea" during a presidential debate. Romney recklessly invented a story just to make himself look intelligent, but only to people with no knowledge of the middle east.

Mitt Romney = Epic Fail.

America doesn't need another George Bush.

cannot occupy the same spiritual space

Obama's compassionate
won out over
Romney's greed

compassion wins every time.

Consider a greedy republican trying to score political 'photo op' points as transparent to all including republicans as a real president doing the real work of comforting the victims of serious damage , the greedy lose everytime..

truth triumphs over falsehood everytime

compassion over greed the victory everytime..

Obama over Romney, the evidence is clear we have a new winner for the office of President of the United states, congrats Mr. Obama.. you are worthy of our country's leadership and will not even lose a drop of sweat next week when you sweep our states with landslide win!!! congrats, i'm proud you are our guy!
