to my face 'I don't think we (meaning the American people) should have to rebuild New Orleans' . . . he specifically said this to me knowing I was from the area and that, at the time, I didn't even know if my parents were okay. They were on the coast of Mississippi and my family and I had not been able to contact them. (It turns out that they were fine, but I didn't know this at the time.)

The jackass who said that to me is from New York. I wonder what he thinks today?

Would anyone like to guess his party affiliation?

in NYC and yes, a repuke. I thought it was just racism then they told me that the caribou had just better "move over" for the oil industry in ANWR. Then I figured "general malevolence". Now they are whining about the other countries not offering help.

Maybe the question can become, how do we make our cities safe in the face of global climate change and rising seas, instead of why rebuild a place where a bunch of black folks live!
