The restriction will be in place in 12 counties, including Bergen, Hudson, Morris and Passaic, and will mean those with license plates ending with an odd number can fill up tomorrow. Those with an even number can fill up on even days, starting with Sunday.
Those with specialized plates or those not displaying a number will be allowed to make purchases on odd-numbered days.
The executive order only applies to people with passenger vehicles.

(3,596 posts)So often when it comes to traffic-related services it comes down to money....
HOV lanes have become HOV plus if you pay extra.
So here if you own a huge SUV and run all over the place you still cannot purchase gasoline until your allotted "day". The rich with their big cars and trucks and SUVs are subject to the same rules as the owners of efficient small cars.
I like it!!!! It is democratic.

(9,874 posts)This was done during the Arab oil embargo in 1973 and it immediately improved the gas line problems tremendously.
