When I got home tonight I had two voicemails waiting for me. One was Newt Gingrich asking me to vote for "commonsense conservative values". It was paid for by some PAC. The other one was from some other PAC asking me to vote for Mitt Romney and Tom Smith. They certainly are barking up the wrong tree with me.
Edited to add: And i just now got a call from the "Faith and Freedom Coalition". It was Mike Huckabee! Their equipment seems to be buggy. There was a long period of silence after I said hello, to the point that I almost hung up before it started. When it finally did start it said "Hello, this is Mike Huckabee" three times. I thought it was stuck somehow.

(55 posts)riding around in his pickup truck about 8 years ago. He was interested in stripping some coal from some property I owned and I told him I wanted to see some examples of how he restored the land after stripping the coal. He picked me up and took me to some sites he's stripped and restored. He said he follows all federal and state regulations (you know the ones he wants to get rid of if elected) when mining coal. He seemed like a nice guy until we were done and heading back to my car and just talking smalltalk. He said some racist comment that I don't remember what it was, but I do remember being very uncomfortable in his truck afterwards. I will be voting for Bob Casey.

(4,340 posts)I tried to watch, but I could actually feel brain cells dying, to I changed the channel ASAP. Anyway, they were talking about a single paragraph in the NYT that alluded to some "tangible" momentum or something. I felt embarrassed for them.

(35,701 posts)registered voters. They are nuts. They need PA because the Ohio door has slammed shut. Interestingly they are right where McCain was in 2008 -making a play for PA as a last ditch hail mary. But like McCain, they will not win it and even if they did, would still most likely fall well short of 270.

(4,475 posts)Just about as urban a neighborhood as you can get, 60% African-American and 99% liberal. I came home last night to a message warning me about "Obamacare" and another one from Clint Eastwood!
Smells like desperation to me.

(78 posts)Why would they go for Pennsylvania at this late stage?
Either way their attempts are interesting and I am sure books will be written...

(16,230 posts)Florida has 29 electoral votes while PA only has 20. I wonder if Florida is also getting a last minute blitzkrieg of ads.
and Michelle Obama is supposedly going there now on Monday so it is probably not a 6+ lead for Romney. But I have very low confidence in the polls being remotely reliable this time around. They have become a political weapon and narrative tool it seems.

(129,449 posts)the past week - this the bastion of blue PA. But they know it's the 4th largest media market and it covers south Jersey and Delaware too. Obama actually never let up running commercials here - not only through the summer but through fall too, changing them up to show some of the latest at the time.
Whenever I happen upon a Rmoney commercial or TV or radio, off it goes.

(15,185 posts)and the closest they got was losing by a bit under 3 points in '04.
This is not the year they take PA. McCain made a last ditch effort in the state as well. He lost by nearly 10 points. Even their go to pollster Rassy said it's a fantasy to take MI, MN, or PA.
It's nice to see that the Obama team is not falling for this bait.
