Bain also helped lead the private equity purchase of the big radio station operator Clear Channel Communications, a deal that eventually resulted in 2,500 job cuts.http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/12/19/us-usa-campaign-romney-income-idUSTRE7BI0IK20111219
Rush Limbaugh broadcasts on Clear Channel. Clear Channel is owned by Mitt Romney
Did you know that many of the talk radio hosts that you listen to on a regular basis use the same company to broadcast their shows? Clear Channel boasts names like Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Mark Levin, and even Coast to Coast AM!
Michael Savage is TRN, but is on a lot of Clear Channel stations.
Clear Channel is the largest owner of radio stations in the United States, and is also a major force in outdoor billboard advertising through the company Clear Channel Outdoor. The company was founded in 1972 by Lowry Mays and Red McCombs. Its headquarters is in San Antonio, Texas, where Clear Channel acquired its first FM station.

*************************
The deal in which Bain Capital became one of the owners of Clear Channel was initiated just a short time before Mitt Romney's first run for president
On November 16, 2006, Clear Channel announced plans to go private, being bought out by two private-equity firms, Thomas H. Lee Partners and Bain Capital Partners for $18.7 billion, which is just under a 10 percent premium above its closing price of $35.36 a share on November 16 (the deal values Clear Channel at $37.60 per share).
The deal was finalized in 2008. Today, Bain Capital is still one of the primary owners of Clear Channel.

voices.
Not specifically Clear Channel itself so much as the partisan Right's media tentacle.

(4,555 posts)8. Bain mentioned in Clear Channel's SEC filings:
For example:
Significant equity investors control us and may have conflicts of interest with us in the future
Private equity funds sponsored by or co-investors with Bain Capital and THL indirectly own a majority of our outstanding capital stock and will exercise control over matters requiring approval of our shareholder and Board of Directors. The directors elected by THL and Bain Capital will have significant authority to effect decisions affecting our capital structure, the incurrence of additional indebtedness, and the implementation of stock repurchase programs.
Additionally, THL and Bain Capital are in the business of making investments in companies and may acquire and hold interests in businesses that compete directly or indirectly with us. One or more of the entities advised by or affiliated with THL or Bain Capital may also pursue acquisition opportunities that may be complementary to our business and, as a result, those acquisition opportunities may not be available to us. So long as entities advised by or affiliated with THL and Bain Capital directly or indirectly own a significant amount of the voting power of our capital stock, even if such amount is less than 50%, THL and Bain Capital will continue to be able to strongly influence or effectively control our decisions.
