Question: who will you accept bad news or a different opinion from?

Today I've been told I shouldn't be watching CNN or MSNBC and should cancel my Washington Post subscription (complaints about the Times go without saying...). While I understand some people don't like they way stories get reported, I get the sense that some people only want to here from writers and correspondents who agree with them. So who will you accept a non-supportive message from?

Not sure what outlets you are describing. MSNBC? They can survive a fact check, unlike Fox. emulatorloo Aug 2022 #6

or poor take on an issue will eliminate all perspective. If it is tv, is the reporting the same during the day as at night? Reporting does get updated and more experienced people tend to take over in prime time.

Read multiple sources that have a history of reliability. And take the occasional miscue in stride--especially from a new reporter on a "beat."

There isn't much difference between an AR-15 and an AR-15 style assault, weapon, just there isn't much difference between a Fox viewer who only watches what confirms his world view and a non-Fox viewer who only watches what confirms their world view.

I watch a lot of sports and if I quit watching sports news from outlets that told me when my team lost, I'd have to give up the pasttime altogether.

that have a different but valid take on things that isn't insulting to one's being/intelligence? All most right wing media does is attack people who don't agree with them and that's when they're not rattling off insane conspiracy theories. And I don't have any desire to listen to "the other side" when it comes to some topics like LGBTQ issues because so much of it is misinformed and ignorant.

For those advocating that we stop reading the Post and Times and watching CNN and MSNBC -- what sources of information do they rely on and what makes them certain those sources are reliable and unbiased?
