They want the votes they get from anti-abortion people. The last thing they'd want is to see Roe v. Wade overturned. It's a vote getter.

My mother always votes based on this issue. This time she really despises Romney, but because he says he is anti-abortion and Obama does not, that is the deciding factor that trumps all else.
