A slew of new reporting this morning debunks Fox News reports claiming that the Obama administration withheld assistance during the Sept. 11 attack on a U.S. diplomatic mission in Libya. With these revelations, the combined conservative narrative as led by Fox News that the Obama administration failed to respond adequately during the attack and that mainstream media has not covered Benghazi enough is in further disarray.
The Los Angeles Times version of the CIAs role focuses the most heavily on pushing back on Foxs spin:
At every level in the chain of command, from the senior officers in Libya to the most senior officials in Washington, everyone was fully engaged in trying to provide whatever help they could, a senior intelligence official said in a statement. There were no orders to anybody to stand down in providing support.

(5,811 posts)until folks stop posting the same old FOX faux shit. BENGHAZI was a CIA OPERATION that had nothing to do with LIBYA. The cause of death of the Ambassador, and the two CIA operatives, the former NAVY seals involves a three legged stool - FIRST LEG? ADELSON's 100 million dollar pledge - SECOND LEG? Netanyahu's mouth and the THIRD LEG? Benghazi attack. Someone gave up the Ambassador and his operatives and we know it definitely wasn't the extremely tight-lipped Obama team. Of course we do know of someone in the previous administration who outed a CIA operative as get back against the husband.

(2,424 posts)In February 2003, a Florida Court of Appeals unanimously agreed with an assertion by FOX News that there is no rule against distorting or falsifying the news in the United States.
During their appeal, FOX asserted that there are no written rules against distorting news in the media. They argued that, under the First Amendment, broadcasters have the right to lie or deliberately distort news reports on public airwaves. Fox attorneys did not dispute Akres claim that they pressured her to broadcast a false story, they simply maintained that it was their right to do so. After the appeal verdict WTVT general manager Bob Linger commented, Its vindication for WTVT, and were very pleased Its the case weve been making for two years. She never had a legal claim.
