She can afford to be protective of him over any consideration for how it may look politically. It's what I would do if my spouse was in distress.

We could peel this onion further. To what extent has his concern for her well-being left him vulnerable to her manipulation? How much of his callous drive is born of her energy?

I am fine to let this family live in peace as they retire to their fortune. Koch, Rove, the MIC et al are going to have to find someone made of sterner stuff. That beast still lives.
