MA state republican senate candidate claims "Smurfs cause witchcraft"

"On her cable access show in 2004, Martinez warned that trick-or-treating, Harry Potter books, and the "new age images" presented in 1980s-era programming such as "The Smurfs" and "The Care Bears" could destigmatize the occult and leave children vulnerable to the lure of witchcraft.

"To me, that's what the Harry Potter thing is doing, only in a much broader scale than the Smurfs ever did," she said. "The children are going to remember those feelings that they had watching the movies and reading the books, and they're going to be prime targets."

There are thousands of Quiverfull, Dominionist, Patriarchal, Neo Calvinist families across the country doing the same thing.

Check out this blog of one example. They homeschool although the father taught in the satanist public schools for years, are members of the John Birch Society, and one daughter is married to the very odd looking son of the very strange Art Robinson, extreme Libertarian, and perpetual candidate for POTUS.

that there are people out there that will actually believe this. I think one of the greatest threats to America is the religious right. Can you imagine a Salem witch trial but with the access of the Internet/twitter/FB?

I am a religious person and I hate what they have done to twist religion to scare people.
