Ok... I just got an e-mail thanking me for voting early. I didn't.

This is just weird.

I just got an e-mail from Martin O'Malley saying:

"Friend -

Thank you for voting early.

We appreciate all you've already done for President Obama, but now is when all our hard work comes to a head."

This is coming from the Maryland Democratic Party.

I don't understand why I would get this when I haven't voted yet, since I like going on the day of.
I have checked online to see that I am registered, as I usually check that, so I know where I go and everything. However, I didn't find my usual mailing each election cycle from the mail that details that.

So now, this is worrying me. Is there any way I could check if someone used that and voted as me doing early voting?
Conventional wisdom says no, but I don't want to have any problems come Tuesday.

It is probably nothing... Just wondering if any one else got something similar.

Did you fill out some sort of online pledge promising to vote early? drm604 Nov 2012 #1
No, haven't done that either. Xyzse Nov 2012 #4

I doubt if they are able to tie a generic email database list to an actual state voting database HipChick Nov 2012 #6

If so, that may be what this is about.

In any case, you may want to check with your local board of elections to make sure that a vote wasn't cast in your name.

First try to confirm is actually is from the MDP. Scan across, but don't click the links in the email if there are any and check the lower edge of the browser window to see if it actually would send you to the correct webpage.

If so I'd call them first thing Monday and ask what's up.

This is interesting.

I voted early in Maryland and didn't get an email.

Are you signed up to his email list and have you received emails from O'Malley before this? If not, then this sounds like a fake message.

It's kind of weird to suppress the vote in Maryland right now. There is no Governor election. No real tight elections for Congress. And Maryland is pretty Blue. So it's odd for someone or group to try to swing the election because it's a wasted effort.

Then again, if you are signed up on one of O'Malley's email lists before you got this message it could be a generic email since alot of people voted early this year.

The other detail is that I live close to where my mother lives.
And my aunt from Arizona just this year decided to live with me for a little while, while she gets her feet back together.

Both of them have become increasingly right wing lately. They particularly have tried to ask me to vote Romney. I've rebuffed them, and given them reasoned arguments that they could not argue out logically. They just tend to go back to saying that Obama is for murder and is for muslims, which I just tend to shoot down quickly by stating 1, he's not a muslim, and the ACA does not have anything in there in regards to paying for abortion. In fact, there is a provision there that specifically states that there will be no federal money there for abortions, which was placed in due to the debate there with the Blue Dogs and Republicans.

I am a registered Independent.

I know my mother has sometimes picked up my mail before.

I tend to expect that electoral packet to come each cycle, and I didn't see it this year.

See, I don't want to think that my mother or my aunt would do something crazy like that, but I've known my mother to open my mail at some point, so I tend to do everything online and not trust the mail. I just live a few blocks away...

Maybe not such a good idea, but it was during the time a few years back when my father passed away.

I mean, most possible explanation would be that I was placed in a generic email listing.

A more outlandish possibility is my mother or aunt feeling as if they should protect my soul and did something out of what they think is good intentions.

It is probably nothing. Sorry, mostly just wondering if any one else got an email thanking them for voting early but hasn't.

Data collection gets done with canvassing. Could have been a data entry error or canvasser mistakenly marked your name as "Already voted"
