He has criticized Rmoney all election season and now when it comes down to his own party about to go down to total ruin, I expect he is going to try to salvage whatever is left. Halfway through the evening, when it looked like Lyndon Johnson was winning every state east of the Mississippi except for a few southern states, Barry Goldwater's surrogates were on the tv screen furiously spinning, telling Republicans not to despair and that Goldwater would win every single western state. Of course he lost in one of the biggest landslides in US history, Johnson getting 16 million more votes and beating him in electoral votes, 486 to 52. I think that was the first time I ever realized that people in politics spin and lie as a matter of course.
